Steadbrook 2.0
A rebuilt Steadbrook: pick a scene, pick a sound, pick how you want to work, and the rest gets out of the way.
Steadbrook was one timer on one background. It is now a place you choose, with a clock that works the way you do.
- Six scenes. A forest brook at dawn, open ocean at golden hour, rain on glass at dusk, a coffee shop in the afternoon or drawn as an anime evening, and a cabin in the woods. Press 1 to 6 to move between them.
- Four ways to run the clock. Infinite counts up and never ends, and is now the default. Countdown runs one stretch and stops. Intervals alternate focus and breaks forever. Pomodoro is the familiar 25 and 5, with a longer break every fourth.
- Real recordings. Brook, ocean, rain and coffee shop are recordings rather than synthesized noise — they hold up over a long session in a way generated sound does not.
- Your session follows you. Open the help pages and the clock keeps running in a strip along the bottom, one tap from the scene it belongs to. Reading something is no longer a reason to lose your session.
- Everything a keystroke away. Space starts and pauses, M mutes, S opens settings, 1 to 6 switch scenes.
- Not back yet. The wave button from the old site is not in the rebuild yet; it returns in a later update.
- A page for every rhythm. 25/5, 50/10, 52/17 and more each have their own timer page with a short note on who that rhythm suits.
There is still nothing to sign up for. You are never asked who you are before you can use the timer.

A count you can trust, and a way to say hi
The 'here now' badge counts people rather than open tabs, and you can wave at whoever else is working.
The badge used to count open connections, so one person with three tabs read as three people. It now counts distinct browsers — three tabs are one person, and refreshing no longer briefly double-counts you.
A tab you left open in the background stops counting after five minutes. It seemed worth getting right: a number meant to tell you someone else is working is worthless if it is inflated.
There is also a small wave button when somebody else is here. Press it and everyone currently on the site sees it, under a name drawn from your session — Quiet Otter, Patient Stoat. Nothing is stored and there is no chat. It is one gesture, and then it is gone.
While a focus session is running the wave still appears, but without the movement. A focus tool should not jump at you.

One sponsor banner
A single labelled banner along the bottom, which you can dismiss.
Steadbrook is free and stays free, and one advert along the bottom is how that is paid for. It is labelled as a sponsor rather than dressed up as part of the page, and there is a close button.

Someone else is here
A live count of how many people are using Steadbrook right now.
Working alone is easier when you know you are not the only one at it. A small badge now shows how many people are on the site with you, updating live.
It appears only when there is somebody else here — a badge announcing that you are alone would rather defeat the point.

Every timer preset has its own page
50/10, 90/10, 25/5 and the rest each live at their own address you can bookmark or share.
Steadbrook was rebuilt from the ground up. The visible result is that a timer set up the way you like it now has an address of its own — send someone `/pomo-timer-50-10` and they land on a 50/10 timer, ready to start.
Underneath, the site got considerably faster, and pages are now served from Cloudflare's network rather than rendered on demand.
